The Media Center is the heart of learning on our campus. It provides a welcoming, safe, and academically focused environment where students can read, research, collaborate, and grow.

Our Media Center supports classroom instruction and student achievement by offering a wide variety of books, digital resources, research tools, and computer access. Whether students are preparing for class assignments, studying for the ACT, working on projects, or simply enjoying a good book, the Media Center is a place where learning comes alive.

At The Calhoun High School we are committed to promoting literacy, critical thinking, and independent learning. Through engaging resources and a supportive atmosphere, we strive to inspire a love of reading and lifelong learning in every student.

Mission Statement

The mission of the The Calhoun High School Library Media Center is to support 21st century learning, by providing high quality resources that enhance the educational needs, interest, and achievement of all students and staff.

We are committed to delivering the best educational experience by maintaining a nurturing, safe, and welcoming environment that honors and respect all ethnic, cultural, and educational differences.

Our goal is to empower every learner to become a lifelong readers, critical thinker, and informed citizen who appreciates and celebrates literature, themselves, and others.

The Calhoun Library is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. providing students with a welcoming and structured environment for reading, research, and academic support. Students may visit the library before school, during the instructional day with teacher approval, or as part of a scheduled class visit. Our goal is to ensure that every student has access to quality resources that may support learning, literacy, and college and career readiness.

Students may check out books for a period of two weeks, and materials may be renewed as often as needed, provided there is no waiting list for the item. We encourage students to take responsibility for managing their checkout dates and returning materials on time so that resources remain available to all members of our Tiger community.

Reference materials, including specialized research tools and certain academic resources, are reserved for in-library use only to ensure consistent access for instructional purposes. In addition, while current magazine issues remain in the library, back issues are available for overnight circulation and should be returned the next school day.

Library Schedule

The library operates on a flexible schedule. Teachers are encouraged to bring their classes for research, book checkouts, or group learning activities. All scheduling should be arranged through Mrs. Simmons.
